Mainit na Pochero, Mainit na Pagsasalo

A Tribute to Cebuano Comfort with Classic Cebuano Pochero

When the skies turn gray and the rain begins to fall, nothing brings comfort quite like a steaming bowl of Classic Cebuano Pochero. For many Cebuanos, this beloved dish is more than just a hearty meal—it’s a tradition that warms homes, gathers families around the table, and turns rainy days into moments worth savoring.

Known for its rich beef broth, the signature smoky flavor of Chorizo Bilbao, tender beef, sweet saba bananas, corn, and fresh vegetables, Classic Cebuano Pochero is a celebration of Cebu’s rich culinary heritage. Every bowl is a reminder that the simplest meals often create the fondest memories.

In this tribute recipe, we honor that tradition using Mrs. Garcia’s Premium Beef Brisket. Carefully selected for its exceptional marbling and tenderness, it slowly transforms into melt-in-your-mouth beef while enriching the broth with deep, savory flavor—making every spoonful even more satisfying.

Whether you’re preparing a comforting meal for your family or introducing this Cebuano favorite to friends, this recipe is a wonderful way to experience the warmth and generosity of Cebuano home cooking.

Mrs. Garcia’s Meats, a heritage brand known for bringing fresh and quality meat products to Filipino homes for almost 30 years, is proud to unveil its latest commercial launched last June 28, spotlighting the enduring bond of family through food.

Rooted in tradition and trusted for decades, Mrs. Garcia’s Meats is reintroducing itself to a new generation of Filipino households. The upcoming commercial highlights a heartfelt family tradition—a wink (kindat), followed by a touch on the nose (tapik), and lastly a flying kiss—shared as they cook together. This playful gesture, passed down through generations, is believed to make the food taste even better, as if sealing each dish with a bit of love and flavor. It’s a celebration of how food connects the past to the present, and how every dish carries a piece of our story.

“Our meats have always been part of Filipino kitchens, and now we’re telling the story of why,” said Mark Cristi, Chief Operating Officer of Mrs. Garcia’s Meats. “This commercial reflects our legacy and what we stand for: fresh and quality meat cuts, family tradition, and meals that bring the Filipino people together. It’s our legacy of love, passed down from generation to generation.”
